Movement5280 Woodworking Business

There are organizations in the mission
field where those being served participate in the ministry,
by using creative skills and learn how to complete a job
well done.

This past year Movement 5280 launched a
woodworking business. It was spurred on by a mission trip
Tina Hayhurst took to Haiti where she saw a similar approach
where Haitians learned a trade, gained self-worth and
financial independence through their own efforts.

Our youth took a simple idea of
“pallet furniture” and art and brought it to a whole new
level. Every Friday afternoon you will find youth and an
adult volunteer in the back of 5280, sanding, painting, and
constructing unique items out of pallets. Through this,
youth are not only learning responsibility but also a sense
of accomplishment, money management and entrepreneurship.

Wood projects are made by requested or
by inspiration. A few are a giant Moana fish hook, garden
benches, shop/patio tables, and holiday decorations. Below
are samples of items created by our youth and are available
to you through a donation to Movement 5280.
