“Three years ago, my family and I were trapped in a relentless cycle of homelessness. Victimized by a series of misfortunes and left with dwindling hope, we were adrift, struggling to provide for our children. Every day was a battle, and each meal was a distant dream.
In a desperate bid for help, we turned to Movement 5280, hoping for just a meal to sustain us. That day, sitting at a table with my husband and children, I didn’t realize how much we were about to receive. While we savored the first decent meal we’d had in days, I struck up a conversation with Tina, who seemed like just another kind soul. It wasn’t until later that I discovered she was the pastor (of Lost & Found Church), and Executive Director of Movement 5280.
Tina listened with compassion as I shared our harrowing story. Without hesitation, she made a phone call right there, arranging a meeting with Jamie Grove, the Community Director of the organization. I had no idea that this meeting would be the turning point for us.
The day we met Jamie was nothing short of a miracle. Movement 5280 didn’t just offer us resources – they extended love, care, and compassion, enveloping us like a warm embrace. They saw us not just as a family in need but as individuals deserving of a fresh start. By God’s grace, we had stumbled upon a lifeline in the midst of Colorado’s harsh January.
Movement 5280 went above and beyond any expectations. They secured a hotel for us, giving us a crucial buffer to stabilize our situation. They helped us apply for housing and jobs, provided a mailing address, and ensured we had food, clothing, and personal hygiene items.
This organization didn’t just offer aid; they offered us a place to rebuild. Through their support, we found ourselves becoming part of their Lost & Found Church, where we reignited our relationship with God and were spiritually reborn.
Our journey didn’t end with temporary relief. Thanks to Movement 5280’s unwavering support, we now have a home – a real home, furnished and filled with hope. We have access to food banks, a stable place to call our own, and most importantly, a renewed sense of purpose and faith. The ongoing assistance from Jamie and the team has been a beacon of emotional and mental support during our darkest hours.
Movement 5280 didn’t just provide resources; they helped us reclaim our lives. We are now actively involved and inspired to support their mission and contribute to their efforts to end homelessness, one individual at a time. Movement 5280 has been the driving force behind our transformation, restoring our hope, strength, and perseverance. They didn’t just change our course – they saved our lives.
Our gratitude is boundless, and while words fall short of capturing the depth of our appreciation, they serve as a small testament to the extraordinary impact Movement 5280 has had on our family.”
